Men, unlike women, do not have regular medical screening programmes provided by the NHS and are not usually careful guardians of their own health. Unlike cars which require regular MOTs as they get older, men tend to wait until something breaks before they fix it. With the UK having higher death rates than most “developed” countries for problems such as cancer and heart disease, this may not be a wise policy!
